The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 6 weeks of sled-push sprint training on power, speed, agility, direction change ability, anaerobic capacity, aerobic capacity, and sport-specific performance in female college soccer players, with the aim of providing foundational data for improving overall performance in female soccer players. To achieve this goal, 29 female college soccer players from a university in the city of SU, China, were randomly divided into the sled-push sprint group (SPS, n=11), the non-resistance sprint group (NRS, n=9), and the control group (CON, n=9). They performed training twice a week for 6 weeks. Physical fitness and sport-specific performance were measured before and after the training to examine the training effects of each group. Paired t-tests were conducted to examine the effects of each training program, and two-way repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to analyze the effects of time, group, and interaction for the sled-push sprint training group, the non-resistance sprint training group, and the control group. In terms of power, the sled-push sprint group showed significant improvements over the course of the study, and there was a significant interaction between measurement periods and groups when compared to the control group. Regarding speed, the sled-push sprint group exhibited significant improvements between measurement periods, and there was a significant interaction between measurement periods and groups for the 20m speed when comparing the sled-push sprint group to the control group. Changes in agility showed significant improvements between measurement periods in both the sled-push sprint group and the resistance sprint group. For the change in direction change ability, the sled-push sprint group demonstrated significant improvements between measurement periods, and there was a significant interaction between measurement periods and groups when compared to the control group. In terms of changes in anaerobic power, all groups, including the sled-push sprint group, resistance sprint group, and control group, exhibited significant improvements between measurement periods. Changes in aerobic capacity showed a significant difference between the sled-push sprint group and the resistance sprint group (NRS), and the sled-push sprint group showed a significant interaction between measurement periods and groups when compared to the control group. There were significant improvements between measurement periods for the T-test dribble change in all groups, including the sled-push sprint group, resistance sprint group, and control group. Changes in direction change dribble ability showed significant improvements between measurement periods for both the sled-push sprint group (SPS) and the resistance sprint group (NRS). In conclusion, sled-push sprint training was found to be effective in improving power, speed, direction change ability, anaerobic power, aerobic capacity, and sport-specific performance. Particularly, compared to the control group, sled-push sprint training showed significant improvements in power, direction change ability, 20m speed, and aerobic capacity. Therefore, sled-push sprint training appears to be a beneficial training method for enhancing the overall performance of female college soccer players. Based on these findings, it is recommended that coaches and trainers consider incorporating such training programs into regular training plans to improve players fitness, skills, and game performance.
