In this study, the effect of positive and negative feedback on the status and implicit self-esteem of the pathological narcissistic group and the comparison group was investigated. To this end, the Pathological Narcissism Scale (PNI) was administered to 328 female college students attending K University in Gyeongsangnam-do, and 32 pathological narcissistic groups and 33 comparison groups were selected as experiment participants. First, primary state self-esteem and implicit self-esteem were measured in the selected participants. After that, the Stroop task was conducted to manipulate the feedback situation, and manipulation was confirmed using VAS. Finally, participants were randomly assigned to positive and negative feedback, and second-state self-esteem and implicit self-esteem were measured. As a result, the pathological narcissistic group showed greater increase and decrease in state self-esteem than the comparison group in positive and negative feedback situations, but no significant change was found in implicit self-esteem. This study confirmed the effects of positive and negative feedback on the self-esteem of female college students with pathological narcissistic tendencies. Based on this, the significance and limitations of this study and the direction of follow-up research were discussed.
