This paper utilizes Critical Discourse Analysis(CDA) to examine what discourses the Korean media produces on 'ESG management', a new and highly fluid concept in the Korean media in 2021, and how they compete and operate as a force for reproduction or change in the social order. This study categorizes the mainstream media into economic journals and general journals to identify discourses on 'ESG management' by media characteristics. Next, This article examines the characteristics of discourse production that may be due to differences in partisanship within the general newspapers. The year 2021 was the year when 'ESG management' emerged in Korean society and was most actively covered. The media's coverage of 'ESG management' in 2021 was divided between those who saw it as an economic discourse centered on economic organizations, corporations, and the financial industry, and those who saw it as a way for companies to fulfill their social responsibilities and solve the problems caused by neoliberalism. Under these circumstances, the Korean media has been engaged in a process of discursive competition in which the meaning of 'ESG management' has been shaped and institutionalized in complex social power relations.
