Phase change materials (PCMs) operate in the melting and solidifying phase change processes. PCMs absorb energy when exterior temperature is risen and release energy in reverse process. Due to large energy density involved in phase change processes of PCMs, PCMs trigger interest of academic and industrial research. Application of PCM can lead to high energy utilization efficiency as well as less demand of fossil energy that can better balance the pressure originated from economic and environment. On the other hand ionic liquids are under intense investigation, especially as replacement solvents for the reactions separations as they reveal negligible vapour pressure and do not contribute to air pollution. In this study, mixture of ionic liquid and polymer is proposed for thermal energy storage material. Some ionic liquid consist of ammonium or imidazolinium as cation and bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide or hilide as anion are synthesized and analyzed by H- and F- NMR spectroscopy. Polyethylene glycol is used as polymer base. PEG and ionic liquid are mixed at bulk state with higher temperature than their melting points and in solution that is able to dissolve both of PEG and ionic liquids. Thermal behavior is measured and analyzed by DSC.
