Purpose: This study explored the meaning of social networking service (SNS) shrenting ofKorean mothers using a concept mapping methodology. Methods: The subjects of the study were 10 mothers with pre-school children, and they usedquestionnaires because it was difficult to face people due to COVID-19, andsupplemented them using phone calls, messages, and SNS. The questionnaire consistedof asking why they shared SNS when raising children and what help they actuallyreceived from sharing SNS, and explained the purpose of the study to the study subjectsand wrote down the questions. Finally, the collected questionnaire statements were madeinto cards, and then the cards were classified in a way that each of the study participantswas similarly understood. Through this process, a concept map analysis was conductedto code and analyze the results based on the classified contents. Results: We were able to draw out four reasons for using SNS sharenting: sending news abouttheir children, recording their children’s development, communicating with othermothers, and collecting parenting information. And we extracted three types of help thatthey receive through sharenting: communicating with other mothers, collecting parentinginformation, and opportunities of self-examination and self-reflection as a parent. Conclusion: In this study, we discussed the positive aspects of sharing through SNS by examininghow mothers with pre-school children exchange help through SNS sharing. This studyis meaningful in that mothers were able to examine the various meanings of sharingto mothers by freely describing the reasons and help for sharing. In particular, thesignificance of this study is that it was possible to explore the role and help of SnsSharing in a situation where direct meetings have become difficult due to COVID-19.
