Although the installation of low water revetment or spur dike is effective for lateral bank erosion, on the other hand, it greatly changes the characteristics of flow and sedimentation around them. It is important to grasp the influence of these installations on river channel characteristics from both the viewpoint of efficient maintenance and consideration of river environment. In this study, hydraulic experiments were conducted in order to clarify the response of meandering channel to these installation. One of the result of the experiments shows that while the spur dike was setting in a part of the low water channel to protect the bank from the erosion, the original meandering channel characteristic was maintained in the downstream of it.
