[Subjects and Methods] Subjects were 71 eyes of 71 young healthy participants who had no ocular diseases except refractive errors. The subjects were divided to 4 groups: the daily disposable conventional hydrogel SCLs (hydrogel CLs, 37 eyes), daily disposable silicone hydrogel SCLs (silicone CLs, 12 eyes), frequent-replacement hydrogel CLs (5 eyes), and frequent-replacement silicone CLs (17 eyes) groups. All the participants completed a questionnaire about their history of SCL use, average daily and weekly wearing time, and SCL power. Using a specular microscope SP3000P(TOPCON), we photographed the corneal endothelial cells. Cell density (CD), coefficient of variation (CV), average corneal endothelial cell area (AVG), and percentage of hexagonal cells (6A) were obtained and compared among the 4 groups. The Kruskal-Wallis test and Scheffé's multiple comparison test were used for statistical analysis.
