When moving images are displayed on PDPs, disturbances of gray levels and colors are often observed. Although the motion-dependent equalizing-pulse technique is an effective one for reducing the gray scale disturbances, the technique is inapplicable to some patterns which cause errors in the speed detection. The error can be eliminated by the use of a follow-left method, which determines the light-emission pattern of the pixel by following the pattern of the pixel on the left. The disturbances can be reduced to less than 1% of the original signal by the motion-dependent equalizing-pulse technique combined with the follow-left technique.
