This paper is aimed at deepening our understanding of human resilience by clarifying the connection between human resilience and narratives. The act of making sense of one's own experience and the narrative associated with that act both contribute to resilience. When an individual is faced with a crisis, the act of making sense of, and adapting to, the situation is an act of meaning. Human resilience and acts of meaning are deeply connected. Narratives are continuously generated and ever changing. Maladaptation due to negatively perceived experiences can be changed only by reconfiguring narratives. In addition, narratives enable us to carry out our desired actions, help to form our view of the world and ourselves, and create the foundation for human resilience.
