It has been found previous by in our studies that more than 200% coverage (v.s. anion exchange capacity of LDH clay) of stearate ions could be accommodated in the interlayers of layered double hydroxide (LDH) clays. In this hybrid, the stearate ions are observed to be regularly oriented as a bilayer like LB molecular assembly. By utilizing an anisotropical alignment of organic guest molecules in LDH, it is undertaken to attempt a photochemical polymerization of diacetylene derivative with a long alkyl chain (12,14-Eicosadiynoic acid; DA) in LDH interlayers. The resulting composites were analyzed by comparing color change with coverage degree of DA in LDH interlayers.
