Department of Industrial Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, Tokyo University of ScienceProperties of evaporated films of N-alkylperylenedicarboximides (alkyl = CH3-n-C6H13) having unsymmetrical structure, such as absorption spectra, crystallinity, photovoltaic effect, etc., were investigated. In the absorption spectra of evaporated films of N-alkylperylene-dicarboximide, absorptions were shown in visible range 400-580 nm. In X-ray diffraction pattern of the films, only the film of the ethyl derivative was amorphous and the others showed some crystallinity : those of methy and propyl derivatives showed low crystallinity, while those of butyl-hexyl derivatives showed high crystallinity. Au/methyl derivative/Al device, Au/ethyl derivative/Al device and Au/pentyl derivative/Al device all showed the property for n-type semiconductor. The highest photovoltaic conversion efficiency was shown in Au/methyl derivative/ Al device.
