The Echizen Railway is a local railway system located in Fukui Prefecture. It traverses through picturesque areas and passes by famous tourist attractions with a beautiful landscape atmosphere. The railway network consists of two lines: the Mikuni Awara Line and the Katsuyama Eheiji Line. Both lines have outstanding topographic features. This study attempts to describe the unique characteristics of the scenery along each railway line. We used a simulated continuous landscape image as a visual tool to show the characteristics of the Echizen Railway landscape. This approach allows for the visualization of the changing sequence of railway landscape elements along the journey on both sides. Our study also underscores the value of the railway landscape and emphasizes its importance as a component of the overall travel experience.
