In the around of submerged breakwaters problems such as beach erosion due to strong currents induced by wave setup behind submerged breakwaters and scouring at the openings have occurred. An appropriate three-dimensional morphological model is necessary when considering the maintenance around submerged breakwaters. In this study we considered the wave field on the top of submerged breakwaters. In order to improve the accuracy of the coastal current model one-equation turbulence model was developed to calculate the eddy viscosity coefficient in nearshore current field. As a result the wave breaking transformation on submerged breakwaters and the wave regeneration and secondary wave breaking on the reverse slope were reproduced. By introducing the turbulence model we were able to calculate the generation of a strong rip current at the opening of submerged breakwaters and circulation currents generated behind submerged breakwaters.
