This study was conducted to confirm the relationship between the nature and human perceived by local residents on the support and visit intention for tourist destinations based on the New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) for the sustainable preservation and development of tourist destinations. As for the research method, the online survey method was used to analyze the responses of 528 local residents in Sichuan Province, China. The research hypothesis conceived based on the SPSS program and structural equations was verified. As a result of the study, it was found that the natural elements of the new environmental paradigm recognized by local residents had a significant positive (+) effect on the support, and the human factors had a significant negative (-) effect on the support. In addition, support was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on visit intention. These results confirm that the awareness of the environment perceived by local residents has a direct effect on the regional support, and the support has a direct effect on the intention to visit. Therefore, this study is expected to suggest various marketing implications necessary to increase local residents' support and visit intention for a specific tourist destination.
