This study is based on the project to develop an instrument to examine Korean youth morality, conducted from 2011 to 2012. The KYMT is based on James Rest's four component model: moral sensitivity, moral reasoning, moral motivation, and moral character. The first draft of the instrument developed in 2011 was revised and supplemented in 2012. This study aimed to standardize the KYMT and categorize an individual's moral type. The KMYT was applied to 6216 middle school students in national level. In results, standardized norms were indicated by each component and 6 categories were made. Fewer students had higher scores in moral judgment whereas majority of responses were located in 4-6 points in 7 likert scale in moral sensitivity, motivation, and character. Most participants had one dominant component and few participants were dominant across 4 components. This study provides useful information of moral characteristics of Korean youth and suggests practical usage for moral education and furthur studies.
