Abstract : Because the population reduction in farm and fishing villages, small-scale schools have drastically increased. Policy of the merger and abolition inevitably have been carried out since 1982.The purpose of abolition and amalgamation is known to enhance normalization and effectiveness of educational programs. But the policies of educational effects have not been proven. The consolidation policies have limits. Emphasizing traits and advantages of small-scale schools in farm and fishing villages can be very meaningful to brace for change in farm and fishing villages, for the essence of education. This study is aimed to looking for contacts of small-scale schools in farm and fishing villages and in four cases of alternative education(pedagogics of Montessori, Jenaplan, Freinet, waldorf) in order to illuminate future value of small-scale schools in farm and fishing villages. The contacts of four cases of alternative education and small-scale schools in farm and fishing villages are overall encounter, mutual understanding, community-oriented. The four cases of alternative education hinted at the possibility of future of small-scale schools in farm and fishing villages in combined class, small class sizes and educational facilities.
