Today, Arirang is mainly internalized through classes in the school field, especially to understand the value of Arirang as a cultural mediation that expresses Korean emotions and promote transition to the future. The importance of secondary education is highlighted, and the foundation is in the middle school curriculum. Therefore, this study measured how Arirang is implemented in 14 middle school music textbooks of the 2015 revised curriculum, identified the actual status of Arirang's field education through a survey, and sought to develop Arirang education contents that can be used in secondary education based on the curriculum. First, if we look at the music textbooks in middle school, in addition to the activities in the area of expression and appreciation in the textbook, classes related to daily life such as historical and cultural backgrounds related to Arirang, implementation of project classes, connection with local communities, Arirang in the world, and Arirang as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity It was found that many of these are included and that more expanded forms of learning are included in the activities of the expression area. Based on this, 11 questions were organized and 449 middle and high school students were surveyed on Arirang's educational status. And about 70% of respondents could not explain Arirang's origin, meaning, and cultural identity, 20.3% said Arirang could not be expressed in singing or instrumental music, and 6.9% did not learn Arirang in class. This suggests that there is a need for reconsideration of Arirang education in the school field, and made the justification for the production of Arirang education content. Arirang-related contents were already produced and used by local governments and public institutions with Arirang songs, and various suggestions were discussed through prior research, but no curriculum-based content was developed that can be effectively used in the school field. Accordingly, the researcher suggested producing video materials introducing Arirang's origin, meaning, and cultural identity, organizing performance-type contents connecting Arirang in various regions, exploring Arirang-related local attractions and participating in events, and developing video education contents on the theme of Arirang consisting of several lessons. Arirang's learning through educational content is also highly related to the five key directions of the 2022 revised curriculum general review and the aspects of the emphasis on subject education. Therefore, for Arirang-related education to be more effectively implemented in new curriculum-based textbooks to be developed next year, the development of educational contents must be preceded, which needs to be linked to active project promotion by local governments and other public institutions.
