Fair Trade Commission is a ministry that plans and promotes Korea's consumer education policies. Strengthening school consumer education in the digital age is a central task of the 5th Framework Plan for Consumer Policy. This study identified the current status and limitations of consumer education in middle and high schools and sought ways to overcome them. School consumer education is operated on the basis of the “2015 Revised Education Curriculum,” and textbook centered education, creative experience activities, and comprehensive curriculum learning are the central pillars of school education. Consumer education is currently operated mainly on technology and home textbook curriculum. The possibility of incorporating consumer education from each perspective of autonomous activities of creative experience activities, club activities, volunteer activities, and career activities was identified. Consideration was given to how consumer education can be achieved in comprehensive curriculum learning education. Through this process, problems with the contents of textbooks, teacher competencies, and barriers to entry into consumer education topics were identified. Strategies to overcome limitations are divided into long and short periods. The long-term approach is to supplement consumer education when revising the curriculum. Therefore, an underlying study should be conducted to prepare the consumer education content system and standards. In order to reflect consumer education in the revised curriculum, the Fair Trade Commission should establish a network for cooperation with the Ministry of Education and stakeholders. In the short term, in order to apply consumer education to the current school education system, content and programs by educational use should be developed and teacher accessibility should be enhanced. Furthermore, the government should develop training programs related to consumer education for school principals and strengthen training for families and excellent teachers. In addition, consumer issues should be included in teachers' general training programs. It is hoped that a systematic school consumer education policy can be established in the future.
