[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to deeply illustrate the process of experiencing university campus life of the golf players studying in university with sports (golf) in the transitional situations of the formation of a new sport culture based on the grounded theory method. [Method] 8 students majoring in golf at H University located in Chungcheongnam-do were selected as the research participants, and data were selected through in-depth interviews with students. As for the data analysis, concepts were derived according to the grounded theory analysis method suggested by Strauss and Corbin (2001) and the coding paradigm was composed to clarify the relations between concepts. [Result] The results are as follows. First, 125 concepts, 18 subcategories, and 11 upper categories were deducted in the open coding. Second, as the casual conditions are the motive of the student players, the contextual factors as well as “campus life” were categorized by the academic system changing, and the central phenomena were regarded as “difficulties in running parallel with study as a golf player.” As a result of reviewing the process of running parallel with sports and studying, it was analyzed as “academic conditions” and “senior-junior relations in campus life.” The action/interaction strategy was categorized into “player’s experience”, “effort” and “university education” and the last result was composed of “studying golf player”, “study abandoning sports player”, and “assignments of university education.” [Conclusion] Based on the above results, the life change process of the students through campus life was categorized by the process of the grounded theoretical paradigm, and the policy suggestions for promoting the student ability that can embrace all study and sports were provided.
