The purpose of this study is to explore the main psycho-social factors that affect the community spirit of youth and to find ways to improve the community spirit. The community spirit of youth was examined focusing on citizenship, participation, cooperation, and caring. As for the variables that affect community spirit, psychological variables such as resilience, self-esteem, and career decision self-efficacy, and social variables of parent-child communication were examined. The survey subjects were high school sophomore female students residing in K area, and statistical analysis was conducted on the collected questionnaire data of 225 students. As a result of the analysis, the level of community spirit of students was generally medium, and among the community spirit, citizenship showed the highest level. Among the variables used in this study, only parent-child communication variables were found to have a significant effect on community spirit. As a way to increase youth community spirit, the direction of content design for the development of a community spirit improvement program targeting parents was presented. The main contents of the community spirit improvement program for parents are: 1) Strengthening of parents' psychological capacity through self-understanding, 2) Strengthening of acceptance and support capacity through parents' understanding of their children, 3) Strengthening of communication capacity with children 4) Enhancing of Parents' community spirit was suggested. The community spirit improvement program targeting parents is considered to be an effective way to improve the community spirit of adolescent children, but such a parent education program has not been developed yet. The program contents for improving the community spirit for parents presented in this study are expected to be used as basic data for developing parent education programs in the future.
