With the increasingly development of the regional economy and urgentdemand for Korean talents, majors related to Korean in the Pan Pearl RiverDelta region which only experienced the development of less than ten years,has witnessed a great development in a short period. At present, 32 collegesin this region have established majors related to Korean, which are goingthrough a transitional period from quantitative change to qualitative change. Therefore, it is necessary to review the general development of related majorsof Korean in this region and explore strategies of sustainable development insuch a key period. Based on the author's years of work experience in Koreanteaching and statistics collected from a questionnaire survey carried out in 11representative colleges in this region, this paper illustrates the necessity of theestablishment of majors related to Korean in this region and the regionaldistribution of related majors of Korean, studies and discusses the ratio ofChinese teachers and Korean teachers, the proportion of associate professors,doctors, and postgraduates among the specialized teaching staff and relatedissues, and analyzes the present development situation of related majors ofKorean in terms of subjects and curricula, enrollment and employment, academic exchange, etc.. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties betweenChina and Korea, majors related to Korean develop rapidly. However, someexperts show their worries to the vague future of these majors' development. In light of the scale of college students of Korean and related majors, the ratedstudent registration rate, first choice application rate, employment rate,academic research, etc.. in the Pan Pearl River Delta region, the author pointsout that the development of majors related to Korean in this region enjoys sound momentum currently. Meanwhile, developmental tasks of majors relatedto Korean are also expounded in this paper. The author believes that the futuredevelopment of majors related to Korean in this region facing lots of tasksincluding ensuring high-quality teaching team, making the best of foreignteacher resources, strengthening academic exchange with Korean partnercolleges as well as university-industry collaboration, cultivating talentsthrough directed training and promoting the publicity to guarantee the newstudent-resources.
