Topological data analysis(TDA) has recently been developed in the areas of data science. As TDA uses techniques from homology, it is known that TDA is efficient for analyzing the circular structures and patterns embedded in data. In our previous study(Tran et al., 2021) TDA was applied to study Korean music by constructing the music network of Korean music and the topological structure of Korean music has been investigated through the concept of overlap matrix. In this study, we used TDA to analyze the role of Sikimse for Dodeuri and Sujechon music. In our previous study, we defined the node as a two dimensional vector composed of the pitch and duration of the given note, but for the current study, we expanded it to a three dimensional vector as considering additionally the Sikimse symbol, whether it is applied or not to the given note. Through the analysis using TDA and overlap matrix, we showed that those music pieces with and without Sikimse, respectively, yield structural differences. In this presentation, we explain the methodology used for the study and provide various results.
