A reinforced concrete chimney with height of 150 meters was demolished by blasting in the Inner Mongolia Huhhot Thermal power plant. The blasting design was described in this paper. Two vibration meters and seven measuring points were arranged in the project. Two kinds of vibrations include blasting vibration and impact one caused by the root and the crown of chimney were monitored respectively. Monitoring data was analyzed and the result showed as follow. Monitoring data was analyzed and the result showed as follow. Four kinds of vibration signals were collected: blasting vibration, cutting-closed vibration, recoil vibration and impact vibration. When removing the chimney which height and volume were larger, impact vibration caused by crown of chimney is greater than blasting vibration caused by explosive. Blasting vibration caused by explosive is greater than impact vibration caused by collapse nearby root of the chimney. Therefore, the influence of blasting vibration to buildings surrounding which is close to exploding source should be checked. When necessary, protection to buildings should be done. Furthermore the impact vibration frequency is very low but its duration is very long. Thereby, it is especially important to protect buildings and equipments surrounding in corresponding technology to reduce the influence of impact vibration caused by crown of chimney.
