The fuel consumption characteristics of heavy-duty refrigerated vehicles are studied using remote monitoring data, so as to explore the driving characteristics of heavy-duty vehicles travelling on actual roads and their laws. First of all, it is determined to describe the vehicle fuel consumption level by the vehicle 100km fuel consumption value, calculate and analyse the monthly and quarterly average 100km fuel consumption of the research vehicle, and find out the fuel consumption interval and fuel consumption change rule of each type of refrigerated vehicle. Then, according to the above calculation results, a random forest fuel consumption prediction model was constructed with vehicle weight, month as independent variables. Finally, one light, medium and heavy refrigerated truck was used to verify the prediction model by using its 12-month actual average fuel consumption data, and the results showed that the prediction effect of the prediction model was better overall. The fuel consumption prediction model for heavy duty reefer trucks constructed in this paper can provide support for the government to regulate the fuel consumption of heavy duty vehicles.
