In Distribution System evaluation of parameters is done based on the measurements. Measurement of each and every parameter is subjected to uncertainty i.e. having doubt about the result of any measurement. Uncertainties in measurement can be due to instrument, operator and the environment. Such uncertainties need to be considered while evaluating parameters, otherwise the results of measurement cannot be accurate. Interval Arithmetic considers these uncertainties and provides strict bounds to parameters and final value expressed in terms of Interval Number will give all possible solutions depending on the uncertainty. This Interval Arithmetic method is being applied to calculate the losses and payback period in High Voltage Distribution System.
