In this manuscript, a simple method for irregular phased array based on two-stage subarray arrangements is proposed to meet different scanning requirements of base-station arrays in horizontal and vertical dimensions. Firstly, the array is divided into multiple first-stage subarrays along the horizontal plane. Secondly, each first-stage subarray is divided into four irregular second-stage subarrays through optimization of genetic algorithm. As results, an irregular phased array with beam-scanning angle up to $\pm 60^{\circ}$ and $\pm 15^{\circ}$ respectively at the horizontal and vertical planes is achieved. Compared with previously reported works, the proposed method is very simple and suitable for base-station situations.
