We discuss advanced maximum likelihood sequence estimation methods for short reach IMDD transmission, which include reducing complexity of Viterbi algorithm and improving the decoding performance with precise emulation of nonlinear responses in transmission systems. We also present transmission experiments over 200-Gbps/lane using our proposed methods.
