A dual-stage gain-clamped L-band extended erbium-ytterbium co-doped fiber amplifier (EYDFA) is investigated. The gain of the EYDFA is clamped using a laser achieved by a ring cavity. The achieved 20-dB gain bandwidth is 47 nm (1568-1615 nm). A 24-dB (−34 to −10 dBm) gain clamped dynamic range is obtained at the maximum gain of 23.78 dB, with stability of ± 0.09 dB for signals at 1570 nm.
