Synthetic materials is commonly used on vascular graft engineering. PLLA which a biodegradable polymers is suitable for this application. In this study, a vascular graft based PLLA-collagen was made with added chitosan on its surface. The aim of this research is to evaluate the mechanical properties of chitosan-coated PLLA-collagen hollow fiber. PLLA-collagen hollow fiber is made from stretch air technique using spinneret apparatus. The mechanical strength of chitosan-coated PLLA-collagen hollow fiber was measured using autograph. The result showed that the addition of chitosan decrease the ultimate tensile strength of PLLA-collagen hollow fiber.
