In this paper, the application of composite tuned mass damper in wind turbines is investigated to mitigate the vibration of wind turbines under wind and seismic excitations. The kinetic model of wind turbine is established using Kane's method. The vibration suppression performance of tuned mass damper (TMD), composite tuned mass damper (CTMD) and CTMD with mechanical networks are compared in this paper. The passive network synthesis method is used to determine the mechanical network structure with the best performance. In addition, the relationship between the vibration mitigation performance of wind turbine with CTMD in the nacelle and the mass ratio of two additional masses is provided in this paper.
