Special implementations of standard silica Fiber Bragg Grating sensors have been developed by our group, including strain measurement in rotating structures and nanosecond time scale measurements of shock wave propagation. Sensing of minute strain changes using phase shifted gratings and pressure sensing using plastic optical fibers are also discussed.
