Using hydroponic culture method, the effects of inorganic and organic nitrogen nutrients on drought resistance of rice (Oryza sativa L.) grown under drought stressful conditions induced by polyethylene glycol (PEG) were studied. The results were as followed, drought stress made leaf water potential and root vigor decreased, in addition, the activities of SOD, POD and CAT enzyme were restrained by drought. But compared with rice treated with nitrogen shortage and NH4NO3 supply, lower dropping extent and relatively higher leaf water potential and root vigor were found in rice supplied with Gly, moreover, rice supplied with Gly can maintain higher activities of SOD, POD and CAT in the shoots and roots after drought stress. So Gly-N may play an important role for rice to adapt to drought stress.
