Overvoltage is generated when load rejection occurs in transmission lines. The characteristics of load rejection overvoltage process for wind power transmission system are different from that of traditional AC system. In this paper the characteristics and mechanism of load rejection overvoltage for wind power transmission system consists of permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is studied. Simulation were carried out based on typical system. The analysis of mechanism is verified by simulation. Overvoltage limitation effect of limitation measures were also studied.
