In this paper, an IGBT drive optocoupler with desaturation detection and active miller clamp is proposed. It consists of an IGBT driver, which features low R DS(ON) CMOS transistors, to drive the IGBT from rail to rail, and integrated desaturation detection and isolated fault sense to detect the V CE of IGBT and turn off the IGBT in time when it exits the saturation zone. Besides, active miller clamp (AMC) function is able to switch off the IGBT during high dv/dt situation. This Driver is designed in 0.18μm BCD technology. Simulation results show that the DESAT threshold V DESAT is 6.5V. Clamping threshold voltage V CLAMP is 2.2V, clamp low level sinking current I CLAMPL is 1.1A.
