Miniaturised antennas for implantable medical devices (IMDs) are on high demand for various applications. This paper presents a novel design of a Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) for biomedical applications in the medical implant and communication service band (MICS) 402–405MHz. The proposed antenna is characterized by very small size and a good resonant performance inside human tissue-mimicking materials.
