In energy-intensive manufacturing systems, machines consume a huge amount of energy during the production process. Therefore, improving the energy efficiency of the production system and reducing the energy consumption are of great significance. For this purpose, this paper investigates the problem of minimizing the total energy consumption of the two-machine Bernoulli serial line with time-sensitive constraints. Specifically, first, the energy consumption optimization problem with production rate and lead time constraints is formulated as a nonlinear programming. Then, two relaxed problems, i.e., one with the production rate constraint relaxed and the other one with the lead time constraint relaxed, are analyzed and optimally solved. Finally, based on the optimal solutions of these two relaxed problems, the optimal solution of the original energy consumption optimization problem for the two-machine Bernoulli line with time-sensitive constraint is constructed.
