The connected vehicle market growth will drive the demand for vehicle-integrated wireless solutions enabling low-latency, wide-bandwidth connectivity without blind-spots, as well as no aerodynamics or aesthetics impact. We present a novel low-profile antenna array architecture embedded in the vehicle roof that provides 360° azimuth (AZ) and 180° elevation (EL) coverage. The proposed array system consists of a conformable beam-switched endfire array in combination with broadside steered array topologies. The integrated system uses low-profile, low-loss, bendable designs and can be easily embedded in the vehicle plastic and/or metal body areas without any protrusions.
