In the design of large swing Angle multi - head arc CAM,the phenomenon of thin ridge and over-cutting is often easy to occur.These phenomena can easily lead to machining and assembly errors or even scrap situations.In this paper, the thin ridge problem of multi-head cams with large swing Angle is discussed and studied in depth.This paper presents a method to approximate the ridge thickness of arc CAM by using the knowledge of space curve distance in differential geometry.And using MATLAB as a programming tool.The ridge thickness of multi - head cams with large swing Angle is calculated and modeling with creo verily the correctness of the conclusion.
