In this paper, a digital canceller adopting adaptive least mean square (LMS) algorithm is presented to cancel the co-site interference for VHF communication receivers. First, the cross-correlation based synchronization algorithm are adopted to align the reference signal and received signal. Then, in order to achieve high-speed low-latency cancellation performance, a transposed form retimed delayed LMS (TF-RDLMS) filter structure is introduced and implemented with field programmable gate array (FPGA). Finally, the validity and effectiveness of the proposed digital canceller is confirmed by experimental results. It is shown that the proposed digital canceller can suppress interference efficiently while maintaining the desired signal for VHF communications ranging from 30 MHz to 88 MHz.
