Polypropylene (PP) is an alternative to cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) for high-voltage cable insulation due to its excellent properties, but it needs to be modified for high-voltage cable insulation. In this paper, a transient temperature rise aging test was conducted on co- blending polypropylene cable insulation slices as the research object, and the changes in breakdown field strength of blending polypropylene cable insulation before and after the transient temperature rise were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and breakdown strength test. It was found that the breakdown field strength of the polypropylene cable insulation specimens decreased after the transient temperature rise.
