In this paper, the spatiotemporal variation characteristics of lightning activity along Sichuan-Tibet railway are studied based on satellite observation data, in order to provide theoretical basis for lightning protection work along Sichuan-Tibet railway. The results indicate that the lightning activity along Sichuan-Tibet railway shows obvious seasonal and diurnal variations. The lightning activity along the Railway mainly occurred in April to August, the most frequent in June to August, and quickly disappeared in October, and the lightning distribution changed significantly in the east and west. Lightning activity along the Railway is most likely to occur from 15:00 LT to 20:00 LT. The peak time of daily lightning density has significant difference. The distribution of flash density is the largest in Chengdu and decreases westward. The lightning density along the route is closely related to longitude and altitude.
