With the wide application of renewable energy source (RES), virtual power plant (VPP) is flourishing as an emerging technology. The volatility of renewable energy generation and the development of electric vehicle (EV) bring challenges to power system operation. The integration of multiple adjustable resources in VPP can reduce the uncertainty of power output when the RES is connected to the grid alone and the adverse impact of uncontrolled charging of EVs, thus reducing the pressure of the power grid. To solve the problem of dispatching resources in VPP, the paper proposes a day-ahead optimization strategy with the optimal economic efficiency of the VPP as the objective. The time-of-use pricing mechanism is also considered. The inclusion of EV is verified through mathematical cases to improve the economic efficiency and flexibility of VPP.
