Echo cancellation is an ingenious method that protects the target of interest (TOI) by cancelling target echo at radar receiver with an active source. In this paper, a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) echo cancellation method using azimuth interrupted sampling modulation is proposed. The proposed method can not only cancel the target echo, but also generate false targets along the azimuth direction, which will protect the TOI more efficiently. Measured SAR data simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
