We reported a new low-frequency active vibration isolation system called by compound pendulum which is mainly composed of a pair of two-dimensional elastic reeds and two pendulums. The response to the ground horizontal and tilt vibration of the compound pendulum is investigated. The simulations show that the compound pendulum is not only sensitive to low-frequency tilt vibration but also restrains effectively high frequency tilt vibration and low frequency horizontal vibration, which is consistent with the theoretical results.
