The application of PCU-NG (Power Conditioning Unit – Next Generation) on high-power satellite platforms will greatly reduce the weight and volume of power supply and distribution subsystems shorten the development cycle and increase economic benefits. This article compares the structure and composition of PCU-NG and traditional PCU, explaining the many advantages of PCU-NG in power density, performance, reliability, and other aspects. Through simulation, the transient response ability of PCU-NG and traditional PCU is compared, the influence of different solar cell array currents on bus characteristics is analysed, and PCU is verified. The adaptability of NG to electric propulsion loads is presented and the in orbit satellite flight verification results are provided, achieving the first application of PCU-NG on the GEO satellite platform.
