Vietnam is a country with great solar energy potential, especially the central and southern regions are sunny almost all year round, it can be said that solar power can be exploited and used very efficiently in Vietnam. At the present, investors are very interested in building rooftop solar power stations because they can save monthly electricity costs and can get economic benefits by selling excess electricity from the grid-tied solar power plant to the utility grid. The potential for solar energy in the provinces in the Central Highlands is very well, but the investment ability of rooftop solar power in the Central Highlands provinces is also affected due to lack of specific assessment of the technical potential and economic efficiency of this type of solar power. In this paper, the technical potential of rooftop solar power is calculated in detail for each province in the Central Highlands by using high-resolution remote sensing images technology. It can be seen that the total average installed capacity of rooftop solar power and the annual generated electricity in Central Highlands provinces are about 49,097 MWp and 140,270,750 MWh per year, respectively.
