An Ultra Wide Band (UWB) antenna is presented using the slots over the surface of microstrip patch antenna. The antenna resonates from 3.21 GHz to 11.56 GHz frequencies having the bandwidth of 113 % with moderate gain of 4.81 dBi. The additional notches are provided at the four corners of patch geometry. An extra thin vertical slot is also developed between the two vertical boundaries of feeding structure. The FR4 is utilized as substrate material which is cost effective. The discussed structure is appropriate for WiMAX and WLAN applications.
