We conducted a clinical trial for noninvasive blood glucose measurement using microwave dielectric spectroscopy and compared the results with the biochemical tests on blood drawn from a vein of subjects. The subjects were ten able-bodied persons. For precise glucose measurement, we corrected the signal drift using standardization from the isosbestic point and a temperature sensor. The frequency points used for the calculation were only two, and the corrected value shows good agreement with the change in the blood glucose level in the physiological range. The correlation between the microwave sensing and biochemical tests reached 0.91 in the best case. This result shows the potential of microwave sensing for noninvasive measurement of not only glucose, but also of various other biological components.
