Filled skutterudite structure and thermoelectric property of Pr/sub f/Fe/sub 8-x/Ni/sub x/Sb/sub 24/ (f=0/spl sim/2, x=0/spl sim/4) were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopic observation, energy dispersive X-ray analysis and measurement of Seebeck coefficient. The number of Pr atoms filling void sites (f) increased with decreasing the number of Ni atoms (x). The lattice parameter increased and the shape of Sb-ring neared a square with increasing f and decreasing x. The Seebeck coefficient depended on f and x. The polarity of semiconductor changed with electron density.
