The development of coalbed methane (CBM) resource is very important for coal production safety, environmental protection and energy efficiency improvement. CO 2 -ECBM is an emerging technology for CBM development. In order to study the mechanisms of CO 2 -ECBM, a new type of equipment was designed. Many comparison experiments between natural depressurization method and CO 2 injection method were conducted. The factors influencing gas production were studied experimentally. Experiments show that the ultimate CBM recovery factor by CO 2 injection method is higher than that of natural depressurization method. The recovery factor of methane displaced by CO 2 is related to the CO 2 injection pressure.
